I grew up a little fishing town in Northwest Florida called Destin. As a child, I would always go to the motocross track with my dad and uncles. The sounds and raw power of the motorcycle is what sparked my interest in mechanical engineering at a young age. Living in Florida, I earned my boaters license and had my own boat before I could drive a car. During the summers, I would work on the boat with my dad furthering my interest in mechanics and design. It was with that boat that I volunteered with the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance to perform monthly water testing. I later learned that the organization was affiliated with the University of Florida which further validated my goal to attend the school and continue giving back to the community. I was admitted into the College of Engineering as well as the Honors College in February of 2016. Now in my second semester at UF I have joined two design teams. I am a member of the Human Powered Vehicle under the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Prosthetic Project which allows me to give back to the community.
